Individuals receiving an award from the Faculty of Scottish Web Authors are bound to maintain and abide by the following conditions of the Faculty.

The Faculty of Scottish Web Authors:
Strive to ensure that, within and beyond the Internet community of World Wide Web authoring and related services, Scotland is represented to the highest possible standards and; to assist in developing and enhancing general capabilities; to communicate the prospective benefit to users of Scottish orientated World Wide Web services; and to contribute generally to the development of a Scottish Web presence.

- Potentially Awards are given monthly to WWW sites promoting Scotland, Scottish products, services or quality textual contributions and who meet the requirements of the Faculty.
- Faculty Awards are attained by participation in the spirit of the Faculty's general philosophy.
- All Award winners must continue to observe the Faculty's philosophy in future Web authoring.
- Award winners may not alter or de-face their Award logo in any way shape or form and must submit a link from the logo to the Faculty's homepage.
- From time to time, the members of the Faculty may review the pages of Award holders and insist that all logo's of the Faculty are removed or, in preference, pages altered.
- Membership of the Faculty is a privilege, not a right, and may be withdrawn at any time without notice.
- It is incumbent upon Award holders and members, whether honorary or otherwise to be fully conversant with the Faculty's philosophy, as altered from time to time.
- Award holders, honorary members and members may be expelled from the Faculty for breach of the philosophy. However, none shall be expelled without first having been given opportunity to correct, explain, or defend the breach. Expulsion shall be at the sole discretion of members of the Faculty.

- The Faculty is administered by a Board. The Board may delegate its responsibilities to subcomittees of the Board and to such other committees as the Board may from time to time create. Membership on such committees is not restricted to Board members.
- From time to time, the Board may offer new services on behalf of the Faculty.
- Unless otherwise provided for herein, decisions of the Board shall be made by a two-thirds majority, and shall be announced to the Faculty thereafter.
- Membership of the Faculty Board.
- Membership on the Faculty Board is granted for life.
- The Faculty Board need not rely on a constituted quorum.
- Every year the Board will make 36 awards and grant the privilege of honorary membership to 12 web site authors. Nominations for awards and honorary membership may be made by any individual. Any individual of good standing who has held honorary membership of the Faculty for at least one year shall be eligible for nomination to full membership of the Faculty.
- In the event that a member of the Board leaves the Board after expiration, the Board may appoint a replacement who shall serve in place of the departing member.
- Removal from the Faculty Board: a member of the Faculty Board may be removed by just cause by a 2/3 vote of the entire Faculty Board.
- Membership of the Faculty Board shall only be bestowed upon Scottish Nationals residing in Scotland on a permanent basis.

- The Faculty retains exclusive right to the use the name and logos of the Faculty.
- Members may indicate awards, honorary membership or membership of the Faculty in their own pages by making reference to the Faculty, by linking to the Faculty's home page, or by displaying the Faculty's membership logo.
- Use of any logo (other than the Faculty logo) purporting to represent the Faculty is restricted to sites officially authorised by the Faculty, as determined by the Board. All such sites are linked from the Faculty's designated home page.
- No individual, company or other entity may use the name or logos of the Faculty to create the impression that a Web page, product, service or any other material or activity is endorsed, recommended or supported by the Faculty.

- Any amendments to the philosophy, subsequent to initial institution, shall be made available to the Faculty membership for comment prior to institution for a period of 14 days.
- The philosophy as and if amended shall be instituted not fewer than seven days after the comment period has passed.
- Amendments to the philosophy shall be adopted after due and careful deliberation by the Faculty Board, taking into consideration any comments made by members during the comment period.
- Amendments to the philosophy may be proposed by vote of 2/3 of the Board
membership.
