: : I didn't hear about the bacteria problems at HB this time, but I understand that this has been a recurring problem over the past few years. I agree with you about the opening of the beach being due to the demands of shopkeepers. How typical! Everything in Orange County seems to take a back seat to the almighty dollar with hardly a thought to the welfare of the people who live there.

: : Hi Denise,
: Do you miss the sunny days of California? I love
: the smell of rain while walking through the woods.
: I really miss my walks like that. The weather here
: today is in the 90's and again we're back into
: Summer. The smog is really bad.

: I work in Orange County and the almighty dollar is so important that the common sense doesn't pay.
: These people that I have to work for, a rude, snobish and downright think they are God. They have to make sure they have all new gagets and the
: stuff they throw away is still useable.
: What kind of books do you read? I just finished
: reading Robert Mc Gregor by Murray. It was a very
: interesting book. Write Soon. Kathleen

Well, I never heard from webspinner, so I guess the site is working.

Yes, I really do miss the sunshine--quite a lot, really! The trouble is, I just can't abide Orange County, which was my home, any more.

The trouble is that many of they people are rude and snobbish and seem to care so little about anything important. I do get very homesick sometimes--but I can't make myself go back.

As far as the kind of stuff I like to read, I do like fiction but I haven't really had the time to read much of it in the last few years. I did read "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells and "The Last Gentleman" by Walker Percy a couple years ago and liked them very much. I might read "Robber Bride" by Atwood because it is this month's book for the Book Club of the Air on NPR.

The reason I haven't had the time to read much fiction is because I recently completed my BA in History and spent all my time reading historical writings as well as stuff for my other courses. Now that I have the time and have gotten past the initial post\graduation burn-out, I am reading a bit more. I did read a philosphical work called "The Return to Modesty" and thought it was pretty good. It was really good considering the fact that the author (whose name I can't remember) is only about twenty-five years old!

Anyway, if you have any suggestions about what to read, please let me know!

I have to go now--lunch break is about over.

Talk to you soon!

Denise
