: : : I didn't hear about the bacteria problems at HB this time, but I understand that this has been a recurring problem over the past few years. I agree with you about the opening of the beach being due to the demands of shopkeepers. How typical! Everything in Orange County seems to take a back seat to the almighty dollar with hardly a thought to the welfare of the people who live there.

: : : Hi Denise,
: : Do you miss the sunny days of California? I love
: : the smell of rain while walking through the woods.
: : I really miss my walks like that. The weather here
: : today is in the 90's and again we're back into
: : Summer. The smog is really bad.

: : I work in Orange County and the almighty dollar is so important that the common sense doesn't pay.
: : These people that I have to work for, a rude, snobish and downright think they are God. They have to make sure they have all new gagets and the
: : stuff they throw away is still useable.
: : What kind of books do you read? I just finished
: : reading Robert Mc Gregor by Murray. It was a very
: : interesting book. Write Soon. Kathleen

: Well, I never heard from webspinner, so I guess the site is working.

: Yes, I really do miss the sunshine--quite a lot, really! The trouble is, I just can't abide Orange County, which was my home, any more.

: The trouble is that many of they people are rude and snobbish and seem to care so little about anything important. I do get very homesick sometimes--but I can't make myself go back.

: As far as the kind of stuff I like to read, I do like fiction but I haven't really had the time to read much of it in the last few years. I did read "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells and "The Last Gentleman" by Walker Percy a couple years ago and liked them very much. I might read "Robber Bride" by Atwood because it is this month's book for the Book Club of the Air on NPR.

: The reason I haven't had the time to read much fiction is because I recently completed my BA in History and spent all my time reading historical writings as well as stuff for my other courses. Now that I have the time and have gotten past the initial post\graduation burn-out, I am reading a bit more. I did read a philosphical work called "The Return to Modesty" and thought it was pretty good. It was really good considering the fact that the author (whose name I can't remember) is only about twenty-five years old!

: Anyway, if you have any suggestions about what to read, please let me know!

: I have to go now--lunch break is about over.

: Talk to you soon!

: Denise

: Hi Denise,
I can understand not having time to read, I have three children and there is little time where I can sit down to read a book. In fact, the last book took me 2 years to read because my life was so busy. I too, like History especially Middle ages of Europe. What are you planning to do with your B.A. in History?
There have been many times that I feel like leaving here in Callifornia. But it is hard when your family and friends are here. If I had a choice on where I would move, it would be up north where there is less people and cooler weather. I don't think I was born in the right state. Its gets to hot and smoggy. The weather here today is 95* and you could smell the smog.
We had the Santa Ana Winds also which didn't help
either.
I havn't had any trouble with this site yet.
Write soon. Kathy
